Privacy Policy

Last updated: August 24, 2026

BingeDeck (“we”, “us”) operates a media diary, discovery, statistics, recommendation, and community service. This Privacy Policy explains the information BingeDeck processes, why we process it, the services we use, and the choices available to you.

Information We Collect

  • Account data: email address, display name, username, profile image, authentication information, and account-security events.
  • Legal and age preferences: the version and date of your acceptance of our Terms and Privacy Policy, confirmation that you meet BingeDeck’s minimum age requirement, and whether 18+ content should be shown.
  • Media and diary data: titles you log or save, dates watched/listened, runtime, ratings, reviews, mood tags, completion and rewatch status, watchlists, lists, tickets, and related statistics.
  • Community data: follows and friendships, comments, discussions, likes, collaborative lists, blind picks, messages, reports, and images/GIFs you choose to attach.
  • Preferences and gamification: genres, platforms, content preferences, themes, achievements, stickers, streaks, XP, levels, and leaderboard preferences.
  • Connected-service data: information needed to connect optional third-party services such as Spotify. Spotify refresh credentials are handled by protected backend systems; a playback access token may be provided to the browser when needed for Spotify playback.
  • Location-related data: location, city, ZIP code, coordinates, or theater information you choose to provide or permit BingeDeck to use for nearby-theater features.
  • Technical and security data: approximate device/browser information, session information, diagnostics, rate-limit information, and security or reliability logs.

How We Use Information

  • Provide and secure accounts, profiles, diaries, lists, statistics, imports, exports, and community features.
  • Generate recommendations, discovery results, BingeScores, achievements, streaks, and year-in-review features.
  • Enforce privacy settings and determine what content another user is allowed to see.
  • Moderate user-generated content, investigate reports, prevent abuse, and enforce our Terms and Community Guidelines.
  • Provide optional music playback, media search, trailers, podcast discovery, theater discovery, and other connected features.
  • Diagnose errors, prevent fraud or misuse, protect the service, and maintain data integrity.

We do not sell your personal information.

Recommendations and Automated Processing

BingeDeck may use automated systems, including AI-assisted systems provided through our application infrastructure, to help moderate submitted content or generate recommendations. BingeDeck also uses rules, rankings, ratings, diary history, and media metadata to personalize results. Automated outputs are treated as assistance to the product and are not guarantees of accuracy.

Spotify Content is not supplied to an AI or machine-learning model for training or used to create derived Spotify listenership metrics. YouTube API Data is not replaced with independently calculated YouTube metrics.

Third-Party Services

BingeDeck depends on third-party infrastructure and content providers. Depending on the feature you use, requests or limited technical information may be processed by services including Base44, TMDB, Spotify, Apple/iTunes, YouTube/Google, Wikidata, OpenStreetMap/Nominatim, Overpass, and other providers identified in the app. Their handling of information is governed by their own terms and privacy policies.

YouTube API Services

BingeDeck uses YouTube API Services to search for and display YouTube video information and to use the official YouTube player. Google may receive information as described in the Google Privacy Policy. You can review or revoke Google account permissions through Google security settings. BingeDeck does not request or store your YouTube password. If BingeDeck later offers authorized YouTube-account features, authorized YouTube data will be limited to the disclosed purpose and deleted when consent is revoked as required by the YouTube API Services policies.

Spotify

Connecting Spotify is optional. BingeDeck requests only the Spotify permissions needed for the connected playback experience. You can disconnect Spotify from Settings at any time. When you disconnect, BingeDeck stops requesting Spotify Personal Data and removes the applicable stored Spotify connection data from its control in accordance with Spotify requirements. Deleting your BingeDeck account also removes BingeDeck’s stored Spotify token record associated with your account.

Location and OpenStreetMap

Nearby-theater tools may send a location or search query to OpenStreetMap-related services such as Nominatim or Overpass to find real cinema locations. BingeDeck does not use the nearby-theater feature to continuously track your location. Map tiles and location providers may receive technical request information under their own policies when those features load.

Cookies, Browser Storage, and Sessions

BingeDeck uses browser storage, authentication/session tokens, and similar technologies to keep you signed in, remember preferences, operate guest mode, and record current legal-consent versions. BingeDeck does not itself place third-party behavioral-advertising cookies. Integrated services such as embedded YouTube or Spotify experiences may use their own technologies or receive technical information under their policies.

Visibility of Your Content

Privacy and visibility controls determine who can see your activity. Public content may be viewable by other users and may appear in feeds, title pages, lists, search, or profile surfaces. Followers/friends-only content is limited according to the applicable relationship rules. Private content is intended only for you and is protected by BingeDeck’s authorization controls. Some community actions, such as public comments or likes, are visible as part of the feature where they are posted.

Data Retention and Deletion

We retain account data while needed to provide BingeDeck, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, protect the service, and enforce agreements. You can delete many individual records in the app and can permanently delete your account from Settings. The account-deletion process removes BingeDeck-controlled account data and related records according to our deletion workflow. Limited security, legal, backup, or abuse-prevention records may be retained when reasonably necessary or required by law and then removed or anonymized according to applicable retention needs.

Data Export and Your Choices

Signed-in users can download BingeDeck account data from Settings in supported machine-readable formats. Depending on where you live, you may also have rights to request access, correction, deletion, portability, or information about our processing. Use the Contact page for requests that cannot be completed directly in the app.

Children’s Privacy

BingeDeck is not directed to children under 13 and does not permit users under 13 to use the service. Registration and the legal-consent gate require confirmation that the user is at least 13. Users who indicate that they are under 13 are not permitted to continue into the service. Users under 18 who are otherwise eligible for BingeDeck have 18+ media hidden through the mature-content age preference.

Security

BingeDeck uses authentication, authorization controls, protected backend workflows, rate limiting, validation, and other technical and organizational safeguards intended to protect user data. No internet service can guarantee absolute security. If we identify a security incident requiring notice, we will provide notice as required by law.

Reports, Safety, and Legal Requests

Information submitted through BingeDeck’s reporting processes may be reviewed by administrators and retained as reasonably necessary to investigate abuse, protect users, document enforcement, process copyright requests, or comply with laws such as the TAKE IT DOWN Act where applicable. See our Community Guidelines, Copyright & DMCA page, and Safety & Content Reports page for more information.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as BingeDeck evolves. We will change the last-updated date and provide additional notice when required. If a material change requires renewed consent, BingeDeck may require users to accept the new policy version before continuing to use the service.

Contact

Questions about privacy or your data can be sent through the Contact page. Safety and content-removal requests should use the Safety & Content Reports page so they can be routed correctly.
